Strategic Alliances Practices on Performance of Local Airlines in Kenya

Freedom in the airline industry coupled with deregulation has created variation fares response to demand, by challenging and ever-changing competitive environment leading entry of many airlines industry. However, have been met challenges remain operational Airlines changed their dynamics operation counter network carriers forming strategic alliances, which become a powerful tool for these airlines, enhancing revenue, expanding networks, rationalizing costs. The main purpose this study was assess alliance practices on performance local operating Kenya. Specifically, sought to: Determine effect behavior practices, Competitive market Bargaining power, Transaction costs anchored following theories: Market cost, RBV firm, institutional theory used descriptive research design targeted all 59 Airline companies currently purposively heads Strategy, Marketing, Product Development, Finance, yielding total 236 respondents. scientifically applied 30% sampling technique target population attain representative sample size seventy–one Primary data were collected using structured questionnaire through 'drop pick' method. A pilot conducted six test reliability validity tools. analyzed both descriptively inferentially Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) computer software Version 24. results presented statistical frequency distribution tables. revealed that behavior, market, bargaining transactional cost had significant positive performance. Moreover, showed jointly accounted approximately 80.82% (R2 = 0.8082) firms hence recommended management improve alliances performances.
